It is fall officially, as the leaves are starting to change color and the air is decidedly cooler. I personally love this time of year, especially in Oklahoma, since the oppressive heat is over! We have very hot summers here, sometimes with weeks of 100+ weather, so in the summer most people hide inside. It is in the spring and fall that many outdoor activities become more enjoyable, unless you like the intense heat! Yesterday, we went to a local pumpkin patch to enjoy the fall weather and get some pumpkins to paint. We decided against carving this year, since they mold so quickly once they are carved. So I am posting our finished products. There are a variety! It was fun to see the cute little animals at the petting zoo by the pumpkin patch. The little pot belly pigs stole our hearts. Book Night!

I have always loved reading, and have wanted to instill that in my children. Yesterday when my daughter said she wanted to read The Last Olympian, I was all too happy to oblige. Off we headed to the bookstore, where I also treated myself to The Gift of an Ordinary Day by Katrina Kennison. We spent our evening absorbed in our books, while darkness fell outside. No TV, no computer, just peace. In our noisy, frequently overstimulating world, moments like these are sacred. Good Reads
